RBSF & J.D. Kelly

J.D. Kelly Corp (John Kelly) is a registered general contractor also associated with this ring of scammers. We are hearing of many J.D. Kelly connections to Gerety, Cottrell and BuildTrend, including common subcontractors, suppliers and representatives.  J.D. Kelly Corp has been a registered Pennsylvania contractor #035571 since July 2009 with a Bucks County PA address.

RBSF Construction Company (Garvin Donaghy) is another registered Pennsylvania contractor intertwined with the BuildTrend ring.  We are hearing that Garvin has been a subcontractor on several BuildTrend jobs, approaching customers with contracted and substantially paid BuildTrend projects directly for payments and threatening liens on BuildTrend customer properties where very little work had been completed.  RBSF is Garvin Donaghy's PA registered contractor #114667 since March 2015 with a Media (Delaware County, PA) address. Garvin also owns at least one other contractor entity that has a current registration in the Commonwealth: RBS Builders Inc., a PA registered Home Improvement Contractor #088891 since 2012 and using a Drexel Hill address.

Garvin made the news when the Philadelphia Parking Authority released a list of Top 25 parking offenders :
No. 16 on the list, Delaware County's Donagnew Builders, is owned by Garvin Donaghy, who has operated a network of construction companies across the Philadelphia suburbs and in Camden. Donagnew has $9,632 in unpaid tickets and 144 violations. Donaghy, who repeatedly has been sued in Pennsylvania and New Jersey by construction suppliers, did not respond to messages left at his home and business addresses.
Perhaps when creditors (and parking bureaucrats) are in pursuit, creating and registering new entities while collapsing and bankrupting spent corporate shells helps one to stay a few steps ahead.

RBSF Construction and Garvin have been the only ray of light in this very sad situation. We were introduced to Garvin through Buildtrend but after our money was sent to Shawn to never be seen again Garvin did not bail on us and he and his crew stayed with us while we worked with the bank and our attorney. I would recommend Garvin and RBSF to anyone and the quality of work has been top notch. Garvin too was a victim of Shawn Gerety and has worked with us a team to get through this.

    1. How do you know that Garvin was not also paid by Shawn and BuildTrend? Did you contract with Garvin separately from BuildTrend? Was Garvin independently permitted on your job or was he working under BuildTrend permits?

How do readers know you are not Garvin himself with this anonymous endorsement?

Lots of questions from an anonymous reply.
I am making a statement not asking questions.
And all of the above questions were taking care of properly and legally.

  3. Anonymity is important to victims who are sharing information here in a spirit of warning others so that they may avoid similar experiences. After the intimidation and retaliation that a number of folks have experienced from BuildTrend and related contractors, its not difficult to understand the motivation for anonymous cautionary comments. Your anonymous positive statements about Garvin stand on their own.

Garvin was paid over a quarter of a million dollars and so the work should have been completed on time. His quality was exceptional but his use of funds entrusted to him is another question. Unfortunately he has spent monies entrusted to him as a sub contractor and he has not provided one invoice for any of the projects. This was so he could obviously hde the money and borrow it as he dreamed necessary. If projects were behind its because he used the funds for RBSF projects hence the reason the projects fell behind and hence the reason my name and company are now ruined. Our attorneys have all the check stubs and will be pursuing Garvin and RBSF if necessary. My suggestion is work out a deal to finish your project with the company who has your money.

Our mistake was trusting RBSF, John Maersch, John McDevitt, Ray Marasheski and more importantly being conned by Vince Cottrell who not only stole part of our name but thousands from my projects. Things are not always as they seem and soon they will be clear to everyone.

Judgement was awarded to Mr Cottrell who filed suit for repayment of monies he and his company paid to contractors to complete Buildtrend client’s projects that he and his company were hired by Buildtrend to manage as a third party project management sub contractor.

Mr. Cottrell and his company Trend Consulting Group severed their relationship with Shawn Gerety and Buildtrend two years prior to issues as mentioned in comments as Mr Cottrell did not agree with what he viewed as Mr Gerety’s poor business practices.

What about Vince's other convictions. What alias is he using now? I knew him as Tom. Tom or Vince used to sell or pretend to sell DirectTv service to unknowing trusting people. The tone of your above post does not seem apologetic enough. Vince's victims are here. Not just the recent ones. He was found guilty and sentenced. Do not forget. I won't. I am looking forward to another conviction and more jail time.

To whom ever is responsible for this blog please know a writ has been filed to subpoena all parties who've slandered Mr Cottrell's good name, wrote misleading defaming comments, and ultimately who've mislead the followers of this blog as to Mr Cottrell's business practices. Please know that once the writ has been executed all individuals responsible for facilitating this blog and/or all individuals who've posted false statements about Mr Cottrell will face legal action for defamation of character and slander as the blog host Blogspot.com will be forced to divulge all individuals names and pertinent information which will be traced through Web portal urls

Here is a list of false information listed in blog about Mr Cottrell and subsequent clarifications hereto:

    * Mr Cottrell has never been a VP of Buildtrend or an employee of Buildtrend in fact Mr Cottrell and his company were contracted as a third party project management agency in fact Mr Cottrell has been awarded a judgement through a lawsuite against Shawn Gerety and Buildtrend as Mr Cottrell paid money out of his own pocket during exit to ensure all projects he managed were brought to completion to which Shawn Gerety and Buildtrend defaulted on payment plan to repay Mr Cottrell dor said monies,to which Shawn Gerety and Buildtrend have since satisfied the judgement.
(Note: Mr Cottrell and his company terminated its contractual relationship with Shawn Gerety and Buildtrend over 18 months ago)

Additional Misleading Information which is defamation liable and/or actionable by law:

    * Use of Mr Cottrell's and his wife's photos without consent

    * Spreading misleading non factual information about Mr Cottrell to which blog writers and commenter's have accused Mr Cottrell of being a party to some sort of conspiracy to defraud contractors which is completely false to which Mr Cottrell and his company deny wholeheartedly since Mr Cottrell and his company did everything within it's power to mange the project's it was contracted to manage on behalf of Buildtrend and Shawn Gerety all contractors, trades, and sub contractors made a conscious decision to do business with Shawn Gerety and Buildtrend directly to which Mr Cottrell and his company held no risk as Mr Cottrell and his company are a third party construction project management agency which was communicated to each and every trade, vendor, and subcontractor.
It is important to note: mostly all contractors, trades, and vendors were already in place and had ongoing contractual relationships with Shawn Gerety and Buildtrend before Mr Cottrell and his company were contracted by Shawn Gerety and Buildtrend and each had ongoing business relationship with the other far before Mr Cottrell and his company were contracted to manage projects.

The list continues as it is apparent that absolutely no research was done before blog was created and/or bloggers listed comments about Mr Cottrell and his company herein.

Please know Mr Cottrell and his company are powerless to manage projects if contractors fail to follow through with their responsibilities and/or perform contracted scope of work at which point Mr Cottrell and his company must remove itself from it's contractual relationship with any and/or all contractors that do not hold themselves to the highest standards as Mr Cottrell and his company prides itself with the highest integrity and standards to ensure all projects are managed well to completion, which is precisely what Mr Cottrell and his company did some 18 months prior.

We recommend taking down all information and photos of Mr Cottrell and his company at once or face legal action which is eminently in motion.
